I have waited for 4 months to upgrade to 9.04 just to avoid any early bumps
like this one. I installed Windows XP on the exact same machine, and there was
no problem at all. Well, I will have to say that until problems like this
I think I figured out the problem, even thought I am not totally sure
what causing it...
The problem got resolved by adding username=jmill in the /etc/fstab
file as follows, which was not needed before the upgrade. But somehow,
after adding the username to the fstab line, I can now mount the

laptop, and my speaker is back again. Thanks for the help. The problem

I have a dual boot Ubuntu 7.10 and Vista on Compaq Presario C714NR
laptop. The sound on Ubuntu works fine after the initial installation.
However, after I muted it once, now the sound is totally gone. I checked
and double checked the speaker icon on the menu bar and make sure
I just had another hanging incidence; when I try to Hibernate, I got a
back screen hanging there with a text message of

available or load failed.
And it just hanging in there. I have to press the Power button to cold
power

Nanley, sorry that I didn't fully understand your question regarding
Restricted Manager. Well, I did turn on some wireless driver when I
saw some dialog message pops up, and I remembered I did went through
several steps to activate the wireless device.
I now stop the Wireless driver by System -
No. I just had a hanging right after I shutdown my Vista home (I setup a
dual boot on my laptop), and boot Ubuntu. Right after I login to my
account in Ubuntu it hangs. I can see the LED next to the Caps Lock
key blinking and everything's frozen...
