Hey Chris, Unfortunatly I've tried that and it doesn't seem to work at all. The whole activating of the wireless is a little odd in fact it doesn't seem to have an effect sometimes. dmesg doesn't report much either. /var/log/syslog does give NetworkManager errors and timeouts though. Very odd..

Ah I've found out what actually activated it for me. I had installed linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic whilst testing. I've uninstalled it and again wireless just doesn't work. Reinstall and it does, so I'm 99.99% sure that's the cause for me. So something has changed between those

Ok something odd is happening, I rebooted into the 17 kernel to see if wireless died again, it did, so I thought problem solved by the 18 kernel. No... I've jsut rebooted into 18 and I'm back to the RF- Killswitch nonsense, I really don't know how it started working yesterday! Any ideas? Nothing

Ok seems I misunderstood the use of the kernel backports module. so lets ignore that! But I've discoverd what appears to be happening, although it's beyond me why. I had Network Manager open, the Enable Wireless checkbox is disabled as it believes there is no Wifi card. I also open syslog. I
