spewing repeated copies of that error message. It no longer does it
with the test program I included in my first comment, but it does with
plenty of others. I'm attaching a different program that triggers the

I'm having this problem as well. Just to reiterate and clarify through
all the noise posts, the problem is that gnome-screensaver runs but does
not activate at the configured idle time on Xubuntu Karmic. It worked
fine on Jaunty.

1. Run gnome-keyring-daemon --login
This starts the daemon, and is happening automatically on my xubuntu

This loads your ssh keys

After upgrading from hardy to intrepid, my VirtualBox tap-like ethernet
interface vbox0 stopped working. It seems that the static ip address I
defined in /etc/network/interfaces somehow no longer gets assigned at
boot time. The interface comes up, but with only an ipv6

Hinting of certain fonts, notably Lucida Console when rendering bold
text, is still broken for me since upgrading to Intrepid. I filed it as
bug 314555.

I just noticed that Andale Mono, part of the msttcorefonts package,
shares this problem. It's as if the bytecode hinter (not the auto-
hinter) gets disabled for bold text.

2.24.2-0ubuntu1, and the problem still exists. Re-opening and
confirming, as I believe I have provided the requested information.

When I said power applet on the panel I meant the little power plug
icon that lives near the clock on my xfce panel. Now that you mention
it, I don't think it's a panel applet after all. That icon appears in
the notification tray when I select Always display an icon in the xfce
Power Management
