maps as we do, because autofs blindly obeys to mounting a share that
doesn't exist on the server side (shouldn't autofs know it ?).

I spent 2 days trying hard to set NFSv4 without any GSSD log because of
this issue. It's only when I launched rpc.gssd -f -vvv manually that I
finally find my way...
As the official Ubuntu NFSv4Howto
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NFSv4Howto) advises to set
RPCGSSDOPTS='-vvv' in

Hi,
I had the sames isues with 11.10 just after removing the KDE standard bluetooth
manager.
I think this is related to a misconfiguration or abusive removal of some KDE
key packages.
After reinstalling some of thoses key packages I could login again just has
before.
So if it happens to you,
You can get a list of thoses packages by looking at the apt log files in
/var/log/apt directory.

I made a test with a local account, mounting it's home directory over
cifs when logging in (just to make sure neither the ldap indexing or
nslcd cache was in cause) and same things happens :

Anyway, when falling back to libpam-mount 1.3.2 (on 11.04), it works
just fine like before.

Then on the second try (when it succeeds) /home directory contains :

Ok I found the problem :
The server root / had been chmoded to 700 instead of 755 as expected, so
that /etc/init.d/nfs-common could not start rpc.statd :
tail /var/log/syslog was showing : rpc.statd[11542]: open
(/var/lib/nfs/state): Permission denied
state file did not exist and couldn't be
on client side, but
from now it has a direct and extremly painfull influence over Firefox v3
as it remains unusable...

Debian Woody 3.1 (with NFSv3) to Debian Etch 4.0 (with NFSv4)
