+1 on revert to old behavior. I just upgraded to lucid beta2 and found
this issue immediately. It is not only stupid to require more actions
from the user to do the same thing, but also inconsistent with the very
goal of that design decision: to reduce inconsistencies.

Yes, still an issue. And it's still present in Intrepid. And I confirmed
it with different computers. Maybe not many people with non-querty
keyboards have their system in English.

I do get the same problem with another user on the same machine, and even on my
other computer (a desktop computer). Some (possibly) interesting facts I
discovered since the initial bug report:
- the . key *in the numeric pad* on the Desktop computer works fine.

enter to get the trailing zeroes and then edit the decimal part) but

Thanks for the comment. It's a nice workaround (though it doesn't work
for now but I guess it's just a matter of restarting my session). So,
it'll suits my needs for now (until I install ubuntu on another box and
forget about that papersize file). I still think a more user-friendly
way is needed

I had disabled it in Feisty, so I don't remember, but I suppose that I
had removed the entry about the power manager in
system-Preferences-Sessions. Seems like I didn't disable it since it
wasn't in the list at all.

Ok, I've experienced the problem with compiz disabled too, so nevermind
my post. The true workaround (found thanks to a post at lwn) is to have
gnome-power-manager in your session (which I had removed since I don't
have a laptop).

gnome-power-manager in his session (which worked fine in Feisty). I'm
reopening the bug, just to make sure you know about it since I don't
know if you want to support that case.

I have this problem with an updated gutsy as of now (27/09). sudo ifdown etc...
doesn't seem to change anything.
It's probably related to compiz since when I disable the effects, it works

Up until now, I thought it was happening for all .pdf documents. After
some research, I found some documents which don't exhibit the bug.
