As the ffmpeg developers do not follow nor even notice bugs launchpad, and additionally have clear instructions for reporting such bugs (which are clearly not followed here), I don't see what we as ubuntu developers can do about this bug other than asking the submitters to follow the ffmpeg

I can confirm this on my Toshiba Satellite A300. It fails with or without the proprietary ATI driver, with or without compositing on. I was previously running Ubuntu 8.04 and both suspend and hibernate (and shut down) worked flawlessly all the time every time. If more information is required
