Is there a reason why you can't select the nvidia-driver-460-server
drivers as a workaround?
I agree it would be nice to see some traction on this one, but the
-server drivers have taken the urgency off of this issue for the time
being.
I think they believe this is an upstream issue,
You can choose not to install third-party drivers at install time. Then
just choose 460-server in the driver manager post-install.
I think upstream have released 460.84 now... so this should be resolved
soon.

driver and solves the problem, thanks.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose
I'm using VirtualBox OSE 2.1.4 on an Ubuntu 9.04 (64bit) host.
virtualbox-ose-guest-utils seems to be fully functional on Ubuntu 8.04.2 and
8.10 (both 64bit) guests, but not under either of my Ubuntu 9.04 or 9.10 alpha
(also both 64bit)

It works with Ubuntu 9.04, but not for very long:(
It times out after a short time when I use it to connect to my Sony-Ericcson
K510i. It worked fine under Ubuntu 8.04 and still works under Windows XP,
I've experienced the same problem a couple of times with NetworkManager Applet
0.7.0.100 under Ubuntu 9.04.
I also have 3 UK mobile broadband, but with a Huawei E160G.
As reported by Emilio, my computer only hangs occasionally during reconnection
attempts.

Weird. I'd expect the jpeg symbols in gs to be resolved against the
internal versions when the library is linked. Would it help to supply an
exported symbol list? That would break anyone trying to use the graphics
library directly, of course.
