Since the upgrade to 12.10 I have a lot of problem on my desktop.
At boot time, I often get the message that one partition of the main hd it not

I found the problem: no swt,jar exists anymore.
So i manually simlink swt-gtk-3.5.1.jar to swt,jar, that is:
/usr/share/java# ln -s swt-gtk-3.5.1.jar swt.jar
and then it works again.
Note if from synaptic I reinstall all the swt package then the symlink
is created.
So the bug in not in
I just upgrade yesterday to the last beta.
Today when I cold boot the PC all works fine. Yesterday on the reboot
after the upgrade, the boot process fail because it can't mount the
external disk. In the next days I will make more test and I can give you
more information.

As you can see in the attached screenshots, the position of all the link
icons are resetted on a new login (I don't know if their positions
weren't saved on the log out). All but the video link (on the bottom
left) just because this is a broken link (it points to a directory in a
filesystem the
A similar bug also affect me: every time I log in the icons on the
desktop are rearranged.
Or better just the icons that correspond a link... the normal files and
directory and the Home, Computer and Trash folders keep their position.

It works. AFAIK, now the quotes in the fstab are handle correctly.

starts to works on the disk for a while (about 20.30 secs) and then it
shows the boot menu.
I have this problem since a mount or two.

Yestarday evening a post a followup to my bug report, but seems that it
never arrived (maybe is still in queue in my local smtp server)
Anyway. I examinated my fstab and I see that for the local filesystem
that are not mounted (all but the / directory) the UUID was between

I have the same (or similar problem): yesterday evening/late night
(CEST) I upgrade the system, just before the shoutdown.
This evening I restart the system, but the X System doesn't start
anymore.
From console I made a apt-get dist-upgrade and after reboot nothing
change.
After a while a can
(sorry... [tab]+[Enter] too much :)
Then I logout as user and login as root and made
mount -a
and then
start gdm
and now I can login on gdm.
My /var is not on a separate partition than the /
/dev/sdb1 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro)

Just to clarify... I use Linux Debian Linux in this machine since 2

Hi, I just try to install the new Ubuntu 9.04 on my machine (where I
regularly use a Debian unstable/sid with a 2.6.29 vanilla kernel
recompiled by myself without any problem) and I have a similar problem
