I also edited my xorg.conf to this:

And that solved it for me. Now I can use VLC, Totem and Mplayer without
any problems.

Here's another gdb output with the symbols installed. But the gdb output
gives me a symbol error in the end.

I added the PPA and ran sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade
I got in to X without any problems, so I guess the old bug (the one with the
link in the first post) is squashed. But I still can't play video.
I managed to figure out how to run GDB the way you like, I think at
least. I ran

I had some trouble with openchrome after upgrading to Jaunty. At first I
couldn't get into X at all. But after applying a fix

It's working in Jaunty for me now.
Followed the guide at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenChrome for
compiling 2D driver.
Got the patch with wget into openchrome/src folder and ran patch -p1
km400_panel.patch
Then ran /autogen.sh --prefix=/usr
make
sudo make install
And voila! I'm in
I had a working set up with Intrepid Ibex, but after upgrading to Jaunty beta
things didn't work.
