Binary package hint: light-themes
The thin, dark border around the nautilus sidepane and fileview doesn't
look nice in my opinion. Without it, nautilus looks much cleaner (which
is the case if I'm using light-themes on Karmic, see screenshot).

Totally agree on that.
After playing around with the gtkrc of Radiance I've found a setting
which looks good imho (see the attachment) and is more consistent with
the buttons used in the software center.
I just added the following settings to the `style button = wider`-section:

@Mark: Doesn't work for me. If he change UUID to /dev/sda1 in grub and
fstab, I get this message and then it drops me into BusyBox:
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory.
... (some more of these messages, but with other directories) ...

Booting recovery mode works. But doing normal boot still doesn't work
after installing all updates since beta-release (now kernel 2.6.21-14).

It's also booting if I remove the quiet-option from the grub kernel
command line (but not the set quiet=1 as in the recovery mode menu
entry). Why is the system not booting with the quiet-option, but
without?

I have a similiar problem here on Ubuntu Karmic Beta:
- Athlon 64 with ASRock N68PV-GS Mainboard and nForce 630 Chipset
- 2 SATA (no raid)
- sda1: root
- sdb1: my data
When trying to boot Ubuntu Karmic, after a few seconds it drops to a
BusyBox shell with the message:
