It now also works for me (HP Elitebook 8440p). I still had an xorg.conf
file on my system because a few months ago I had to set the parameters
manually because the xorg driver did not work back then.
Since multiple people now confirm it as working I close this bug with

I've just installed eclipse 3.5.1 on Karmic beta. When I go to Help ->

When I try to run the latest live-cd of ubuntu-jaunty alpha 3 or 8.10 on

I also have similar problems with the b43 driver
A couple of kernels ago it worked fine, but now it:
1) Doesn't see the other networks
2) Is slow. Pinging my Accespoint can take 2 seconds. Sometimes reconnecting
helps
3) Looses connection

Sorry for not being precise enough I only see it when I use the
Clearlooks theme, because that uses the GNOME icons

This bug can be closed as it was fixed by a later version of the kernel

The culprit seems to be evms. During text boot I saw that that took
around 10 seconds to complete. After removing the evms package, the
bootsplash is OK.
