The way we work normally with these type of situations is we will pull
upstream ALSA work into package linux-backports-moudles-alsa-lucid-generic
package for 10.04.
We also for OEM installs will also create dkms alsa packages
that just update the hda alsa driver with

Unfortunetly it's not. The reason is we have seen that unloading
the module can have bad effects at times when doing multiple suspends.
The safest way is to have the suspend code in the driver.
Do you know if upstream is looking for testing to help move
inclusion along?

I have a machine with 6 SATA drives and have not seen this issue. Though
this is a desktop machine.
What partitions are on /dev/sdb drive? It looks like you have some swap
on /dev/sdb .. can you give me the complete layout?

Based on info on your first report you had stuff on /dev/sdb .. it was
using swap from /dev/sdb6 .. this could be part of your issue. Can you update
your bios and see if Ubuntu will boot with /dev/sdb there. Also check the
/etc/fstab of the ubuntu install.

I would like to mark the gnome-power-management task in progress
for the 30 min suspend. Along with this would be to open bugs or tasks on this
bug for projects that would get effected by this (as Mario suggests in comment
#11). This may not be something for 10.10 .. but
Seems like building this into the kernel may be the best thing to do...?
There are other projects that also need uinput and load it in the
startup script, such as rinputd server.

Thanks for the patience. Try this new package. It turns out
I messed up on the first package I gave you. Make sure it's uninstalled
reboot before installing this one. Basically I put a quirk for the wrong
controller. This *should* fix the microphone. Let me know as

It auto selects. So if you have mic plugged into the jack then it
will use that and not the internal mic. Otherwise it will use the internal mic.
It's a feature of the card and how the conexant cards work.
The best thing to do is try playing with the audio settings.

This has been raised as a issue from OEMs through ODM testing. The video
attached demonstrates the issue.
The problem is that when compiz is disabled and a notification (like
sound volume) comes up. You get a lot of background graphical white

To help someone working on this on the community side. If you look in
drivers/usb/host/xhci-pci.c you will find comments suspend and resume
implemented later in structs hc_driver xhci_pci_hc_driver
xhci_pci_driver where there should be function pointers to functions so
that it can suspend.
To summarize the work arounds proposed.
1) Adding acpi_osi=!Windows 2009 to kernel command line (via grub)
* The best work around currently. Works for everything.
* This is dependent on the bios identifying and not doing Win+P+(?delay
Return) for other operating system

For Volume key issue in 10.04 you can fix simply by adding the following
line before LABEL=force_release_end in /lib/udev/rules.d/95-keyboard-
force-release.rules

U300|Satellite Pro U300, RUN+=keyboard-force-release.sh $devpath
This is a common issue with volume key getting stuck. You have to fix
via udev (as this is to no longer go in the kernel).
