The new designed gnome-volume-control manager has now moved completely
to depending on Pulse Audio instead of Alsa. The problem is Pulse Audio
sits on top of Alsa and does not have expose controls to mixers at the
ALSA level or have mixers that correlate to those controls.

You only saw the header of the rom binary. It's binary code so you can't read
it in a text editor. The header just happened to have ASCII text though. Not
sure what the maintainer will do with it but, they are asking for it for debug
purposes.

Looks like effective user needs to be root. I see what you are saying I got
the same thing until I completely became root.
To do this run:

Now run the commands while you are root. That worked for me.

Looking at the Xorg log it appears that the AUO display does not have
everything needed in it's EDID info. Either it's EDID info is incomplete
or it does not support the standard VESA modes needed (such as
[EMAIL PROTECTED]).

without playing with the hardware clock or what not.
When I run this exact same test, but instead of using pm-hibernate, I go

I spoke too soon on my last post. I eventually did see the netbook remix
menu went all white. Then after switching between virtual terms, it was
back to normal.
Just tried intrepid and it appears that it does not have this issue. I
have my desktop using compiz and it is not having the same type

For those looking. A temporary fix is to remove the setting the APN.
Actually just remove everything except for the phone number that you
must dial. This works for branded cards as all the data is

Sorry for all the posts.
So the problem is still there and the patch does need to be applied. BUT
there is a new profile for network manager called Auto Mobile Broadband
(GSM) . That no longer attempts to set the APN but on dial *99#. So the
problem is skipped.
Patch still needs to be applied.
Confirmed fix is now in Intrepid. Just upgraded my laptop today to make
my own network manager with the fix. But it appears the fix is already
there and there is a new auto connect (nice touch).
As for ttyUSB2 it looks like you can issue commands to the card while ttyUSB0
is has the data
Actually that quote is backward as the one's before it read:
If you are using the AC875, MC8755, MC8765, MC8775 issue AT commands or
queries to /dev/ttyUSB2. AT commands can be used while a data connection is
established on /dev/ttyUSB0.

I'm lost on your logic. We are using an updated version of wxwidgets, a
minor update 2.6 to 2.8. Not 2.6 to 3.0. This is not a major version
change. I have also personally tested this long ago. So I'm failing to
see what you guys are talking about when you say intrusive or things

Tried kernel 2.6.25-rc8 and brightness works! So there are fixes
upstream. Also it's very quick too (unlike it being slow and sluggish).
One thing is the thinkpad-acpi probably neededs to be moved up to 0.19.

There are 2 LED patches. The first that was on the 21st, got reverted
and a new one was commited on the 25th.

change libwxgtk2.6-dev to be libwxgtk2.8-dev

This appears to only effect thinkpads using the Intel x3100 graphics.
I have a Thinkpad 61p with Nvidia Quadro and the brightness control
works (updating today's packages), using the proprietary nvidia driver.
But when I try my other Thinkpad T61 with Intel x3100 it does not work.

How is anyone supposed to know this. This feature is a huge bug, as if
I apt-get install these packages and I see an Icon in the menu system.
How am I supposed to get to the point where I would get to this URL?

mediatomb is missing critical files in HARDY
I am refering to option in vlc. On the top bar Video-Always-on-Top ..
you need to be playing a video for this option to take affect. Currently
it will not keep the vlc window on top.
Now I just noticed that Gnome now has always-on-top for apps again
(whoot!)..but this still does not full solve
Yes so to add on to my last comment and pervent confusion.
1) Ensure that in the left hand corner (where the app icon is). That allways
on top is not checked. This is a feature of metacity (which is the windows
manager for Gnome).
2) Now you open a video in vlc
3) Now go to the top bar in vlc,

wxwidgets 2.6 (libxgtk2.6 is the lib being used). Though this is fixed
in 2.8. Both 2.6 2.8 come with Ubuntu hardy (as well as gutsy, I think

This is not the same issue. So if you are getting the correct resolution
then you are fine from that stand point. Now shifting to the right is odd.
If you using VGA and it is shifted to the right then try auto
calibrating your monitor.
If that does not help then this could be an
using program acpi_listen .. you can catch acpi events. Don't know
much about the asus issue here. Mine was with thinkpad and it used ibm-
wireless.sh. I'll take a look and see if I can add something useful to
the bug though.
