Binary package hint: gnome-keyring
My laptop (Dell XPS M1530) has a fingerprint reader. I installed the
packages thinkfinger-tools and libpam-thinkfinger, and edited /etc/pam.d
/common-auth as described here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ThinkFinger to
make it possible to login
Bug or not, it is a problem - I use the fingerprint reader so that I
don't have to type my password, but now I still have to type my
password... it defeats the purpose of the fingerprint reader.
Maybe it's an enhancement request: Make GNOME keyring work with PAM /
libpam-thinkfinger or make it

I have two different laptops, a Dell XPS M1330 and a Lenovo T61, both
with exactly the same WiFi adapter (Intel 4965 AGN; the same lspci
output as shown above). I have a NetGear WNR834B WiFi router. With
Windows Vista, it does connect with 802.11n speed, but with Ubuntu 7.10

boot splash works normally.
This happens to me on Gutsy and Hardy Alpha 6.
I fixed it in Hardy Alpha 6 by doing the following:

Edit /etc/modules, add a line: vesafb
Forgot to mention my hardware: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, nVidia 8600 GTS.

There are files missing in the package gliv version 1.9.5-1ubuntu1 (for

The missing files are gliv.desktop (GNOME menu definition) and gliv.png

Please update GIMP for Gutsy to version 2.4.2.
2.4.0rc3 is a *release candidate*, not a real release.
A number of annoying bugs have been fixed since 2.4.0rc3, including some
potential crashes.
Those fixes are enough reason to update the Gutsy package.
See this for fixed bugs since 2.4.0 final
Thank you for the fix Tim, it works!
