Definitely not fixed! I can't believe they are letting this get by. All
of us using this in an enterprise environment are suffering. It
certainly hurts your credibility when you are promoting Ubuntu and you
are unable to check your mail. :(

I'm having same issues as tomaskCZ and everyone else on two different
AMD64 machines. I've completely removed evolution, named accounts
differently, started in offline mode, any work around I can gleam from
this thread, but evolution is still unusable due to the issues everyone
has mentioned.
Same experiences as above, several scanning for changed messages that
never complete. Also can't close Evolution normally. I'm really shocked
that a flagship app like Evolution would have such a critical bug that
gets neglected before a release. This is really hamstringing me at work.

Ok, I noticed that I normally have the preview pane off for better
compatibility with the screen readers, but when I press F8 to turn on
the preview pane, the menu shows up. That at least gets me around the
problem, hopefully someone can fix this properly though.

Having the exact same issues with 3.1.4 on Windows 7. Do not have the
problem in Ubuntu. It's pretty critical as I am teaching students using
screen readers and it is very convoluted having to route the screen
reader cursor to the PC cursor and then navigate down using the number
pad, right
I can also confirm using Empathy 2.28.1.1 and Ubuntu 9.10 AMD desktop.
Tries to connect, briefly shows contact list and then goes offline with
network error. I am connecting to OpenFire Jabber server.
