This is a known issue, and it is due to the pulsing panel icon. You can
deactivate the pulsing panel icon by updating to Timer Applet 2.2b1.

Cannot reproduce this error on a virtual Ubuntu 9.10 with Python 2.6
*and* Python 2.5.
In both cases xml.tree.ElementTree is shipped by default with the Python
(as it should be).
