I have the same problem as mentioned, with Intrepid. Gnome support
package is installed:

cannot open folders with whitespace in name with sftp
I am experiencing the exact same behaviour as Luis Villa - although I
use GeForce video. Screensaver used to work before (Hardy), I only
noticed a few days ago that it stopped.
However, turning compiz off and back on helps.
