I am also affected:

Title:
10de:0407 Ubuntu 12.04
I can confirm the problem on Ubuntu 10.04
example:
libavdevice52:
Zainstalowana: 4:0.5.1-1ubuntu1
KandydujÄ…ca: 4:0.5.1-1ubuntu1.1
Tabela wersji:
4:0.5.1-1ubuntu1.1 0
500 http://ubuntu.task.gda.pl/ubuntu/ lucid-security/main Packages
500
I am using Lucid and I have Dell M1530.
When volume of microphone is set to 100% it is almost inaudible.
gnome-volume-control let me rise the volume up to 150% which is still not
enough.
With paman (PulseAudio Manager) I can rise it up to 480%. 200% is fine.
Workaround:
1. sudo apt-get install
I have just upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10.
There is still Services option in Administration menu. When I click it, it
failes because services-admin can not be found.
If you remove services-admin, you also ought to remove this menu item.
--
services-admin should be disabled
I can confirm this bug in a fully updated 32-bit Interpid.
I can make priority lower, but not higher.
System monitor tries to spawn gksudo but for some reason it dies.

Dell XPS m1530 with a8 bios.
On 8.10 final touchpad works as crazy.
After adding i8042.nomux=1 it is ok, but a bit to slow.

I think that this issue has already been resolved.
I didn't tried to do this for 2 months, but now it seems to work 100% OK
for me. I am sorry, but I do not have time to check what have resolved
the issue.
I have fully updated(also with proposed updates) Ubuntu 8.04. I did not
reinstalled it.

I have a remote Linux server on which I often change some txt files.
I connect through SSH and I have private/public RSA keys generated so I connect
to server without a compulsion of entering password.
I use Places- Connect to Server to connect, browse files and change
