Same here, had to go back to nvidia-glx-173. With nvidia-glx-180 after logout X couldn't start again. After two or three minutes and few unsuccessful tries Ubuntu reverted back to safe driver but screen was distorted And split in two (I saw right side of the screen on the left side of monitor).
