Having tested it a couple of times now, it is somewhat intermittent.
Without the kernel parameter (#23) set though, more times than not the
machine will freeze on wake from sleep. It is a Dell 7591 2in1. I know
of others with relatively new machines who have had issues with DMICs

Thanks for the advice, yes with the snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0 bootarg, the
freezes are resolved. The kernel messages contain a lot fewer errors too... So
does this would suggest that the culprit is loading the drivers for the DMIC?

reboot. Reverting to -40 again for now...

However it's different from the problem of the bug, because if you have other
applications opened, it's really slow to go to the desktop to open new windows.

I think this bug is really important.
Using an application with many windows open (like the browser) is really awful
with current Unity.
You could also show small previews or the list when hovering (and not clicking)
on the icon, so you'll save even more time.

I've tried the solution of comment #11, however scaling windows is
really slow with those plugins enabled (NVIDIA GT230 with proprietary
drivers).

I've seen that the desktop file in /usr/share/applications contains the New
Window shortcut, so the problem is only the downloads' progress bar.
There are two choices: integrate the UnityFox extension (maybe doing a unique
extension with firefox-globalmenu) or use Unity Launcher API in Firefox
No. I could not solve the probleme and made a clean install of Kubuntu
11.04.
