The truth is I only suspect the -DCOMPIZ_BUILD_TESTING=ON as this is the
main difference between jenkins and PPA building (and AFAIK it builds
without tests in PPA). If you have issues with reproducing this, please
let me know and I'll dig deeper.

Unfortunately this is a real world situation when we are using jenkins
and mk-build-deps in the test job. We are using label expressions to
select the correct test configuration (e.g. amd64precise to tell
jenkins I want to test on amd64 and precise) . For some resons the label
expression used for
I was able to see this again after couple of days. However, the screen
was not black but I was able to see my wallpaper. But it was the only
difference. I still wasn't able to see anything else (like the password
dialog for unlocking the screen).

No it wasn't a multimonitor setup.
I had an impression I can reproduce reliably and all the time. I did a
dist-upgrade this morning and I don't see it any more. So right now I'm

I used LiveCD. I marked the partition with my old / to format and mount as '/'
(so the old system was really completely wiped out byt the mkfs). In the same
dialog I marked my home partition to mount as /home and _do not_ format.

This happens to me quite often.
Out of a sudden the application is either not in the launcher at all or
somewhere else. See also the screenshot with chromium and thunderbird as a
demonstration. I have chromium normally on the first position (so I can just
press Super+1).

the latest unity (currently 5.4.0 RC1). Instead of SIGSEGV my desktop
freezes. What I usually do is go to terminal (ctrl+alt+f1) and killall

After upgrading to 5.4.0 RC it is gone (or better to say it is so much
to the right that you can see just a few pixels). Attached is a

I can still see this in the released version of 11.10 (i386). It looks
like launcher is not aware thunderbird is running (the small arrow is
missing on the left hand side of the thunderbird account - see the
screenshot). Closing/starting Thunderbird doesn't help.
