I agree that this is a really annoying bug (whether it is compiz or
remmina). An easy workaround is to disable horizontal additional
workspaces, e.g. with the myunity package (under Desktop set H Desktop
to minimum). Then, compiz is unable to move your remmina windows around
in annoying ways.
Just to add to this:
I tried running firefox --debug and there are no errors within GDB and
it gets this far:

Okay, so apparently Firefox doesn't like running in an NX session after
first being updated (i.e. I get it to work if I run it in vnc first).
How irritating...

Looks like I was experiencing
