of a sudden. I've had this 'error' in the dmesg since I first installed
karmic. It never causes a problem on my system, because its just a
warning. In my case the error is that ECC memory is disabled in the
BIOS. Which is

The workaround for this is to add 'nolapic_timer' to the boot system.
You do this in Grub 2 by editing the /etc/default/grub file and adding
the parameter to the line with 'quiet splash' in it. (Parameter
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT).

What's worse is that if you *do* have an Acer Aspire One, this module
doesn't automatically activate the enhanced fan functionality. You
have to do it by hand!
It would be nice to add the appropriate value into the sysctl system.
If the module is active, we should at least try to use it on the

The latest karmic pulseaudio and wine1.2 packages appear to solve the
sound skipping issue on all my platforms.
Is anybody still having problems with wine sound?

Hi,
Can you report back if you still have problems with wine1.2 and
pulseaudio in the very latest version of karmic.
From my testing today, I've yet to have an issue with sound in Wine.
