In my case the applications don't become availiable by itself. I often
have to do a unity --replace to make the dash work. My machine was
also upgraded from Natty.

[dash] Apps lens
I got the same (or a similar?) error with Unity and Unity2D (two
different laptops). From dash, I cannot start any apps but the four
favorites. If I search for them I only get files and music as results.
Even Alt+F2 doesn't work.

Are you sure thatthis bug is a duplicate of #745836? I think that the
encryptet $home is really the problem. In 745836 i didn't read anything
about that...
