I tried to clean up and install emacs-gtk install, using the following
script:
-
#!/bin/bash
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
dpkg --purge --force-depends emacs-common emacs-el emacs-bin-common
emacsen-common emacs-gtk
apt-get install emacs-common emacs-el

Recently I upgraded to Ubuntu 21.04. Since then emacs is broken. When I
try to install it or run it I get the error message: "emacs: undefined

emacs-lucid, emacs-gtk and emacs-nox.

Dear Andreas,
Thanks for your response. It is almost certain that what happened has
not been caused by Dovecot, but by yours sincerely having messed up the
/etc/group file. So, my apologies for having bothered you with that.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Andreas,
thank you for your prompt reaction on the Dovecot problem. I hope that I
understand enough of the problem.
I think I found the cause of the problem:

. The problem occurs with the following packages from Hardy:
emacs22-gtk 22.1-0ubuntu10.1
idutch 1:1.00-1
ispell 3.1.20.0-4.4
Today I downloaded and installed idutch-1:1.00-2 and this solved the problem.
Maybe a solution would be to make this package available for Hardy as a
backport.
Thanks,
Paul
