I found that deleting the gwibber.sqlite as suggested somewhere didn't
work for me. What did was removing :
.gconf/apps/gwibber/preferences/%gconf.xml
This was under the user profile. Soon as I did this it worked find and
the size of the newly created xml file jumped up by 6 times the amount.
I experience a bug with similar symptoms. I'm using an up to date
version of Karmic.

The kernel update 2.6.31-8 introduced a bug where when KDE resumes from
suspend it displays a black screen and the mouse pointer. When you are
in this state you can actually unlock the screen and move your mouse
pointer around.

This issue appears to be resolved in Karmic Alpha 2.
There is another bug that needs to be resolved. Desktop doesn't extend
across both of my 1440x900 monitors. So half of one monitor is unusable.
I'm guessing the desktop size is limited to 2048. I'll file a bug when /
if I have time.

I'm using Intrepid and my wireless connection (iwlagn) seems to fail
intermittently for 15-30s at a time as frequently as every couple of
minutes. NetworkManager doesn't report that the connection has failed

Sorry about the long silence. My laptop is my production machine and I
didn't want to install a development version of Ubuntu on it. I realized
this week that I should be able to get it working with the Live CD. So I
just tested with Jaunty Flight 5. The bug still exists in this version
with the
Update: I tried to do some debugging by attaching gdb to the
/usr/bin/Xorg but I didn't get anything useful with the backtrace. Since
X doesn't actually crash, I would need to find a reasonable breakpoint,
but I was unable to do so. Does anyone have any ideas?

This is a picture of the corrupted display. Notice how the top part of
each monitor has a black strip across it. The corruption can manifest
itself in other ways as well. Sometimes the entire picture on the
external monitor is garbled.

I had the same problem after updating my system on Nov 5. I resolved it
by downgrading nvidia-glx using the following command:
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx=1.0.8762+2.6.15.11-1
