Thanks - this fix appears to have resolved my lag issues.

FWIW the OOo quickstarter icon works perfectly in Ubuntu 9.10 with the
New Wave theme (which is similarly dark like the default theme in
10.04), so this looks like a regression to me.

I have resolved this issue on a Dell D620 with a 1440x900 display with a
GForce 7 Series graphics card in kubuntu / feisty
aptitude install nvidia-glx-new
restarted X-Server
with the d620 the 16x9 display is not properly detected. under system
settings / monitor + display / administrator mode

1. Users settings, when first started, doesn't show all users regardless
of gconf settings
2. If start Users settings and _then_ start gconf-editor and _then_
toggle the state of my newly added show_all (with underscore) setting,
