Bugs, which is
I tried using apport as suggested above. It ends with a dialog box
saying The problem cannot be reported: The program crashed on an
assertion failure, but the message could not be retrieved. Apport does
not support reporting these crashes.
It did create a .crash file though which I attached.

Somehow I clicked only one of the files to attach in the previous
comment. Sorry about that. The compressed archive is still above 8MiB -
hope that is not too large.
