Java crashes when trying to launch this very simple test. The crash is
probably somehow related to hardware. OpenJDK 6 will also crash, and
Oracle Java 7 also crashes. Apparently also Oracle Java in Windows
crashes. However JRockit java on Ubuntu does not crash, but runs

relevant to the bug discussed above please? I would think having
duplicates would make it more difficult to manage fixes?

Somehow I have not seen this issue before, but after moving house
suddenly the root fs was filled by this log. No hardware changes, except
that of the 2 displays connected before, now only 1 is. Probably used a
different USB connector.

On Lucid, Kindle4PC fails to work when package wine1.2 version
1.2.2-0ubuntu2~lucid1 is installed, but works fine when downgrading to
version 1.1.42-0ubuntu4.
With latest Wine, Kindle4PC will display un-encrypted ebooks, but fails
when trying to open an encrypted ebook. Somehow this regression
...and finally, Kindle for PC is version 1.0 Beta 1 (25338). I have the
installer if needed.

PS: to be exact, I had all packages on Lucid upgraded to latest, and
only downgraded package wine1.2. Packages wine and wine1.2-gecko and all
their dependencies are still at latest version. When downgrading
wine1.2, packages ttf-droid and ttf-umefont were automatically
uninstalled as redundant.
Two emails, one decrypts and the other doesn't, despite both being
text/plain. Interestingly the one that works is ISO latin 1, and the one
that fails is UTF8. Also the working one can be from the email source
clearly identified as PGP, while the failing one must first be Base64
decoded before it
PS: KMail does correctly decrypt both emails, have not tried
Thunderbird.

Dominique, I did finally get my DBT-122 to do as you described, i.e. I
stop bluetooth, then pull the USB dongle out, put it back in, do
hciconfig and then hcitool. I dunno what I messed up last time I tried
it.
I can now scan for devices and connect to and query info from my N95
using hcitool, so
DBT-122 is still a problem, procuding the command timeouts.
I borrowed a new device to test:
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05e3:0605 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Hub [ednet]
This usb dongle works great, both on the patched kernel as well as the
regular Ubuntu 2.6.28-10 kernel.
So for me this patched
disregard that last bit - sending from phone to computer works after
manually installing and starting gnome-bluetooth. Odd that this is not
automatically installed and started once bluetooth starts.

Just a comment here - hibernating doesn't work even when running off the
normal main disk, which is a SSD probably connected via (S)ATA. So I

Actually the Alps Electric bluetooth seems to at least partially work,
so perhaps there the problem is in Bluez and not the kernel module.

Hah, managed finally to get a dialup connection, after using the Gnome
bluetooth applet to re-establish mobile pairing.
Result: KPPP manages to create a functional dialup connection. Network
Manager is not aware of this connection - it is only visible via KPPP or
ifconfig.
So: KDE bluetooth
Reading the bug report linked by lod I think this bug report should be
closed as a duplicate. To me it seems quite clear that this bug is a
direct result of 280997. What do you think?

I just tried the gnome bluetooth-applet in Kubuntu 8.10 and now I
finally got dialup networking and stowaway keyboard working again.

Running Kubuntu Hardy beta off a USB flash drive, rather than from the
HD. When suspending to disk, the console shows and endless stream of
error messages, saying that writing to disk fails. It would appear that
when suspending support for USB mass storage is dropped?

I would also like to request that this be fixed now in Gutsy, rather
than waiting for the next version with its new issues.
For me, as a Java developer using Bluetooth a lot, Gutsy seems to have a
lot of things broken that used to work before. Not the best version,
this one.

I can confirm the problem is today still present on Gutsy AMD64.
Also I can confirm that the problem can be fixed by installing current
Debian Testing package kdebluetooth_1.0~beta8-3_amd64.deb (from
http://ftp.fi.debian.org/debian/pool/main/k/kdebluetooth/kdebluetooth_1.0~beta8-3_amd64.deb).
btw this is on Kubuntu rather than Ubuntu, in case that makes a
difference.
