either in the 13.04 installer or in the 13.10 upgrader, as the machine

When I added a USB card that has a long name, the preferences window got
unusable due to having no limit on the device list, on the left hand
side, and the Configuration fof... pane on the right side.
Overall I get a window that can't be resized and is ~1500 pixels wide,
so
I think it is gnome-control-center, but I'm really not sure which
component it is...

I blacklisted the i2c-piix4 module, which I think I don't have and was
giving this warning:
ACPI: resource piix4_smbus [io 0x0b00-0x0b07] conflicts with ACPI
region SMBX [io 0xb00-0xb0f]
as I thought it might be related, but nothing changed.
I am uninstalling radeontool to ensure it is not
Note that testing was inconvenient, as this kernel is not supported by
the dkms tool, so I can't install the wl module; the open source
broadcom wifi module has disappeared in this release, so no network
while testing... :(

Doh, forget the part about os wifi driver: brcmsmac is there, and works.
I just needed to modprobe it by hand in this kernel, as wl was not
available but still selected. jockey deals very badly with errors
(compilation proprietary modules is broken with 3.6.0-rc*), BTW, and
