should be open RE: the thermal modules not being built in. The G5
machines do require thermal modules built in, or power management will
not work.

powerpc: powernowd init script intentionally ignores ppc for loading cpufreq
The G5 machines also require their thermal modules built-in the kernel,
and not configured as modules. So power management probably does not
work on G5 machines either. There was a long saga of past versions of
Ubuntu having this *exact* same problem. (Grrr...)

Does this fix simply remove the 'ondemand' feature? My G4 CPU is not
scaling down now, but fixed at the top CPU (867Mhz). The scaling feature
is desirable for laptops and was working okay in previous Ubuntu
releases.

A vanilla 2.6.24.2 kernel compiled with pmac32_defconfig DOES do the cpu
scaling with this fix. However the current hardy kernel
(2.6.23-7-powerpc) does not allow for scaling. So looks like the kernel
config is not correct. Should I make a new bug report?

Pertaining to this bug: I also have to note that snd-aoa works well for me in
2.6.20-15-powerpc64-smp (better than snd-powermac, in fact). So the problem
