It seems that is not found the dri module for 3D acceleration. Can you
install the mesa-utils package:
sudo apt-get install mesa-utils
And add the output of the following commands:
glxinfo | grep ^direct
glxinfo | grep 'renderer string'
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxinfo 21 /dev/null | grep so$
the application is looking for the dri driver in some paths, but not found it
in any.
Can you try run this command from your application directory ?
LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri ./cool_vl_viewer

installing, when I click on menu button of the launcher, the screen images are
corrupted.
When load the display manager, sometimes the screen blink and I have to switch

I made a clean install, not upgrade. I had got random crash with previus
versions of the kernel , but I don't know if it was the same bug. I made
a memtest, but no errors found.
I think that since 3.0.x versions, my computer have crashes and freezes.

this happen to me with the gnome-system-monitor icon in Ubuntu 12.04. I
searched the applicaction and do drag-drop the icon to the launcher.

I leave empty password but change it with the command passwd, and can
continue login without the password, after reboot too.
(The /etc/shadow has a hash entry but gdm ingnore it).

update-grub hangs and not end.
With the linux-image-3.2.0-19-generic, I have not this problem.
