Thanks for your question and sorry for the long delay. Yes, the issues
are still reproducible with 8.10. But it isn't that bad because
everything works as it is supposed to. The lack of acpi-support
concerning mentioned situations isn't really a big deal for me.

The problem results from an incompatibility between Xorg 7.3 and the
driver that is supplied by the Ubuntu package. The newest development
version (0.7.9-7 at the moment) contains a temporary workaround for Xorg
7.3.
Therefore a workaround for the bug is: Download the most recent
development
I forgot to mention that although the issue persists, the screen isn't
torn anymore, i.e. the stripes, which you can see on the screenshot
provided by bugmenot, disappeared.

Confirmed on Ubuntu 7.10 release. Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot the alternate installer CD
2. Select manual partitioning
3. Mark a partition for use as physical volume for encryption
4. Change encryption key from passphrase to random key
5. Try to configure the encrypted volumes
6. Watch it dying
Tested with daily-build 20071016.1: Bug still exists.

I can confirm this bug with the Gutsy Gibbon RC1 alternate installer. In
addition to the issues mentioned above, the installer also falls back to
English. It is possible to switch consoles. I think this bugreport
belongs to debian-installer therefore i will link it.

good. For example I can't adjust the brightness settings with any
software. Only the fn+brightness up/down work because it seems they are

card is an Intel GMA 950 with the intel driver. When I try to logout
the system freezes completely and a few white blinking blocks appear on
the screen. It seems to be related with compiz. But it freezes not
everytime with compiz

/usr/share/app-install/icons/touchpad.png) is corrupt. I'm of the

I just had a closer look on it and I recognized that if the charging
time was in hours rather than in minutes it would be correct. You can
see this very good when you compare the output of acpi for a while with
the curve the gnome-power-manager shows in the remaining time section.
