This work around doesn't work anymore with Karmic.
The connection is very slow.

I confirm this bug with Karmic. To set the bit rate manually doesn't work
anymore.
The bit rate seems to have been changed but the connection is still very slow
and the connectivity is poor.
~$ iwconfig
lono wireless extensions.
wmaster0 no wireless extensions.
wlan0 IEEE
No, it doesn't do anything.
