Still happening on saucy (tried the live cd on a usb stick), as well as
the latest mainline kernel build (3.12rc4).
Let me know what I can do to help further debug this. This has been an
issue since 11.10.

Thinkpad T420s with what appears to be the same problem, but the
workaround in comment #13 doesn't fix it for me. Neither does options
sdhci debug_quirks=0x40 in /etc/modprobe.d/sdhci.conf and an
rmmod/modprobe.
Revision 07 of the Ricoh device, not 04 like others.

Best Practical tested the lucid-proposed package and we uncovered an
error in the package that causes users to be unable to login. The error
is not present in upstream but in the Ubuntu patched version.
Once we manually patched the error in the installed code (described by

If I use gnome without compiz and then run /usr/bin/compiz from a
terminal the screen flashes and appears again sans any window borders.
Immediately after this, the screen goes to black with thin purple lines
before gdm catches the crash and restarts, dropping me at the login prompt.

The fix to compiz doesn't work for me. X still hangs. It's not
checking for the PCIID of my 945GM chip.
The PCIID of it is: 8086:27a6
This said, the blacklist fix is no real fix at all.

I network upgraded to Intrepid (from Hardy) last night / this morning
and upon reboot I can no longer login with gdm. I enter my user/pass

Thinkpad T60 after resuming from suspend.
