Hi Bryce,
just before sending the above report, screen saver Hyperspace was
active, having far less than 1 fps. After moving the mouse and pushing a
key on the keyboard, it took ~ 30 seconds to actually exit the screen
saver. Right after that, I issued the command You told me.
There's still the
Screen saver Hyperspace just activated and run normally.
I didn't restart since my above message. I was running and using following
applications:
- Evolution
- Pidgin (IRC Channels ICQ)
- Netbeans 6.9 beta
- Firefox

As there seemed to be a segmentation fault, I tried to get a valgrind.
This time vlc didn't crash when switching to full screen, but only
showed a black screen. This has happened before, so I don't think it's
because of the valgrind.

After a crash I ran compiz in console. But as soon as I opened an
image in Gimp, it crashed.

Prior to this, I started evolution from a console. I deleted some files
in junk folder, then evolution crashed, the first attachment is copy
paste of console output.
After that, I started evolution from console again and deleted mails in
junk
