I have the same problem with a Thinkpad T61. I was not having this issue
with 9.04. It was reproducible 100% of the time under the following
sequence: I'd have the laptop on AC power, put it to sleep, unplug the
power, then wake up the laptop--it would then go back to sleep in a few

I just tested and am still seeing the black line on a fully updated ubuntu
install.
