I reïnstalled using lucid 10.04., but instead of using 64bit i used 32bit
instead
initially that still had kernel 2.6.31, which i kept for a while
and kernel 2.6.35.20 which kept on failing for me
now since official release, I use kernel Linux 2.6.35-22-generic
which is stable for me, no more
same on maverick

Here is a diff file between the working .32 and the defective .35 configuration
my 3 suspects are
a) - cpu support
b) - io
c) - network
a) I could not find and changes in cpu support
so my xeon em64t should be ok with amd64 arch
unless
CONFIG_X86_L1_CACHE_BYTES=64
CONFIG_X86_INTERNODE_CACHE_SHIFT is cpu specific and the patch aready suggests
that I should use _ 6 _ although xeon or em64t is not mentioned in it.
