Just now there were two updates: xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.3.2-2ubuntu2) xserver-xorg-video-i810 (2:2.3.2-2ubuntu2) which settled up pretty much everything but compiz :) glxgears is happily back to 800s, compiz is back to white screen. gdm greeting application is also greeting happily now
