As a side note:
Bios for the board has 3 different options for ACPI-suspend
-Auto
-S1 only
-S3 only
This bug is repeatable on all of the given options.

The issue is still valid with 8.10/Intrepid Ibex
Suspend hangs with a _ (underscore?) blinking.

I added the files requested in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Note that these files
are generated with nosplash kernel option, as the hardy alpha desktop cd
(amd64) will not boot with default options.

It seems that the nosplash workaround fixes kernel 2.6.22-14 booting
on ubuntu gutsy RC.
on Gutsy
1) edit the grub menu file:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
2) find the line that says
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic
root=UUID=289068d7-1370-4197-9c9c-0158604be66b ro quiet splash
I have a GeForce 8500 GT card - and I have the same problem with
kernel-*-14 (which comes with the rc I think). The earlier kernel-*-13
from beta works, but gives no spash.
