This worked for me (hope I remenber the steps correctly):
Rightclick BTicon, Configure
Press connect on the keyboard
Choose the kayboard and click next.
A code will appear.
Press and hold the connect button on the usb dongel
Enter the kode on the keyboard
Press enter.
Now you can let go of connect
I tried mabawsas tip, but it didn't work for me. A couple of logins
later and the window decorations was missing again :-(

it's been a long long time since I could copy large amount of data to my
usb stick fast in ubuntu, probably since 7.04 or 7.10. (Maybe, just
maybe, I can find the time to reinstall old ubuntu versions and test.
I'll get back to you if I do).
Recently I wanted to copy 10GB to a 16GB usb stick,
I also have this problem. Approximately 1 of 5 logins, but there can be
like 5 times in a row and then it works for a couple of weeks.
I have an ATI graphics card, using the open source driver. Some time ago
I got the latest stuff from xorg edgers but that has not affected this
bug performance.
I expected email notification for new comments, so I haven't looked here
since my previous post. But today, finally, I saw Justas answer and
updated indicator-sound. It seems to work fine, if I encounter any
problem I will repost back here.

Changing left/right balance
Found a bug, or rather, the bug is not completely exterminated.
I lower the volume for front and center speaker. If I adjust the Master
control in Gnome Alsamixer, the balance is kept. But if I adjust he
volume with indicator-sound, or with my keyboard volume keys, the
balance is lost.

I installed Lucid RC1, and have updated my way to the final release
since then. Last update today. After installation I got an floppy icon,
but I have no floppy drive. I commented the floppy line in fstab and the
floppy icon disappeared. But also the icon for my ntfs partition (not
I have 5.1 speakers and if I try to change balance, or tone (balande
towards back speakers, surround in alsamixer) the overall volume and
subwoofer slider is changed instead.
Same problem if I use Gnome Alsamixer and try to change volume for any
individual speaker.

Thanks, removed .asoundrc and now the volume control works and
pulseaudio detects the audio streams.
But the hardware tab in gnome-volume-control is still blank. Isn't
supposed to show volume for front-, surround-, center-speakers and such?

I experience this behavior both on a computer with Intel graphics and
one with Nvidia (177 driver updated today actually). Also with LiveCD on
my computer with Intel graphics I got the same behavior.
In case my steps to reproduce where unclear, I'll try to explain them
again (somewhat different).

With the power cord attached, the system is responsive and works well,
but on battery it i laggish, and Suspend and Hibernate isn't always
present in FUSE. Clicking the battery icon to se how much battery is
left doesn't work either.

On fresh i386 Intrepid Install on a equivalent motherboard, the sound
is't working quite right.
If device ALC850 is choosen, only one volume meter is shown, but nvidia
CK804 shows several meters.
I was able to get sound, but the center speaker is not working, surround

After playing around with settings and volume meters, I now get sound
from three speaker, front left has very low volume but I suppose this
could possibly be hardware error in the motherboard (speaker itself
works fine).
I have to choose device nvidia CK804 to see all available volume
meters.

I can confirm this bug on a clean Install with Intrepid, . With
Duplicate front I was able to get stereosound from the front speakers
It's not my computer so I don't have access to it every day, but I will

Thats' like 1000 days old. This is a very obvious bug and looks really
bad. Ubuntu is known for it's user friendliness, and when it looks like
something will be done and it isn't, it is _not_ user friendly.
Therefore I believe it to be worthwhile for the ubuntu team to take a
look at this bug.

When I said I never had KDM installed I meant that I'm using Gnome. When
I click shutdown or restart the panels and icons on the desktop
disappears, but the wallpaper stay and nothing happens, I press
ctrl+alt+backspace and then the Ubuntu splash appears ande the computer
shut down. Sudo reboot
Never have had KDM installed, yet I have the very same problem. After
fresh install it worked fine, but after I played around with some themes
I got the bug. Using default theme doesn't help now so maybe it hasnät
got anything to do with it.
