Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-terminal
upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 from an 8.10 Wubi installation. Tried to
install Opera 9.64 from debian package and the package installer hangs -
progress bar just goes back and forth until I eventually close the
window, but then can't close

found the following solution in information for bug #245956:
Manual solution:
To make the S11 link, I pressed ALT+F2 and typed:
gksudo ln -s /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh /etc/rcS.d/S11mountdevsubfs.sh
This worked for me to solve the terminal problem and allowed me to
install Opera.
