I noticed this on my main machine, and tested in a VM. I can confirm

I experienced this exact problem while trying to install the jaunty beta
to an asus 1000HE, from a flash drive of course. Just as the original

I do think its an ath9k driver issue. I managed to have top running the
last test, when I was testing out the cli. (Unfortunately, I could not
figure out the syntax for iwconfig. I thought all I needed was a key
the_key directive, but errored out)

without logging in to X. Meh, and maybe I will wait for the beta

well, the reason the dpkg error persists is because cups is broken.
Whenever you have a broken package, dpkg generally refuses to continue
other commands. Simplest fix is to just force a removal of the broken
package with dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq

I have this computer with an old nvidia graphics card. Everytime I
switch it to a different monitor, xorg implodes, and seemingly
irrecoverably. Sometimes it loads into a graphics mode of around

edgy repository listing, which you don't want anyway since you are

I believe the importance attribute is for developers who are using launchpad,
not for the users. I don't think this is going to get a higher priority
because this isn't an ubuntu specific bug, and possibly, Mark Shuttleworth
hasn't hired any developers to focus on the xserver.

I used a livecd of intrepid on a dv5 1000 laptop, and I can confirm that
wireless doesnt work, and the touch button doesn't work. I think there
is a driver for the 5100 intel wireless card, that is opensource. So, I
suspect that the reason that this doesn't work OOTB has to do with the
button.
