Hi Calbocano,
if you can get it I can really recommend my multi-function Canon Pixma
MP610. The Linux drivers are not perfect, but for printing they work
great. It's scans well copies great. And if you want to print pictures
you can do that directly from SD cards. That's how I fixed my problem
Maybe there are two problems at the same time. One in CUPS that prevents
the Canon converter from working properly and another one that prevents
the GTK applications from printing properly.
The Canon drivers have been a bit problematic before already. (e.g.
liked to fill up my /tmp dir in 8.04,

then the error log is copied to your home directory, where you can access it.

As you can see in the print dialogue, a big portion of the page remains
blank for no reason. If I print the page, it comes out just like that,
too. The only one that seems to be working in gimp is A4 without the
borderless option.

Screen flickers when loading applications
It can neither be related to Xorg (incl. the intel driver) nor to KDE.
I can start X and KDE manually without problems. And it starts only at some
(late) point during loading the session.
But I'm still stuck trying to find the exact program that causes the constant
problems for me...

now. It's probably fixed in the next 8.10, but of course this is ridiculous.
Of course this qualifies as a bug fix for stable releases.

I co-sign. We should get this into hardy quickly, as it's an old(since
gutsy I believe) and very serious memory leak that almost every desktop
user seems to experience and the fix available, tested and working.

I think this must not be regarded as a feature but as a bug.
And there really should be no problem with the feature freeze.
UDF 2.5 is now just too widespread to justify waiting with applying it I think.
And imagine all the support problems:
