It seams the reason why purging fetchmail and again installing it will
make fetchmail work is rooted in /etc/init.d/fetchmail (Jaunty). The new

2. Start up a vm (Intrepid i386 in my case) plus vbox guest utils installed
(from upstream iso since not deliverd with ubuntu, see bug 210352)
3. Control+F to go into fullscreen in the vm
4. Control +F, Control to leav
/etc/inittab [SysV-System] no longer exists in Ubuntu. It was replaced
