I have added
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_EXTRA=libata.dma=1
to /etc/default/grub
and the problems hasn't reoccurred since then.

As described in the very related bug 266951 there are - spurious? - errors
about device sr0.
This happens is in the current released 9.10 server 64bit release with no
patches and little other than a lot of packages installed.
