No, it is not reproducible, or has not occurred again.
The system it occured on has an old Nvidia GeoForce 5200 video chip, which is a
constant source of errors and problems.
The system is apt-get updated every morning, no ppa's are being used (that I

data cd, it complained that cdrdao was not installed. I ended k3b,
checked synaptic, it was installed. I restarted k3b, but this time no
error message appeared. I was able to copy

when I edit a file in ubuntu one, it is immediately declared to be in
conflict, and renamed with an .u1conflict extension. Why, and how am I
supposed to use this "feature" ? I have applied all available updates.

This is a gnome desktop, restart did not fail on xcfe desktop.
But ubuntu one does not work on either system.

I checked /usr/bin/growisofs --version, it says:
