I'd like to add that this bug is still an issue in Feisty Final 7.04. Downloaded Desktop AMD64 version using bittorrent, and burnt to both DVD and CD using slow burn speeds.
AMD64 3500, 2GB RAM, Radeon X800 PCIE, ASUS A8V (I think). No matter what I hit in the main Ubuntu boot screen, it shows that it loads the kernel, then suddenly my screen goes blank and DVD drive spins down.
