I have the same issue, but d-i preseed/early_command string umount
/media || true doesn't let it bypass the issue. I still see the
partition, in my case /dev/sda2, is mounted.
Is there any other way to workaround?

I figured out that the workaround suggested by Martijin works for 14.04.1, but
doesn't work for 14.04.2. If you end up in the same situation as mine, try
14.04.1 on this link.

It worked for me as a workaround in the Ubuntu desktop by Installing
gnome-tweak-tool and modifying the ctrl key position.

I tried to install Lubuntu using English as install language and it worked! The
issue doesn't happend when using the English language to install. I'll reboot,
see if the English install is working, and try to install in Brazilian
Portuguese to get the syslog of the crash.

The partition setup used to reproduce the crash (installing to sda10, sda9 is
/boot partition, sda2 is efi partition).
The Lubuntu install in English is working, but the Windows partition hangs in a
black screen... I'll try to use boot-repair.
