I know you said no more comments, but I just have to add one more.
I don't actually know what Ubuntu's 'mission' is, but I expect it would
like to become a popular desktop operating system that can be used and
maintained by anyone. Well until you fix your processes I just can't see
that even

I've got to agree with you. The result of triage showing that this
problem has been classified as low shows the Ubuntu team do not really
understand how they should proceed to get Linux on the desktop. There is
no (or little) commercial pressure for new features, but there should be
I hope it's not rejected. I understand the desire for the correct
solution, and on the face of it you could argue that the fglrx driver
should not have slow performance with the existing xorg code, however I
think we should be pragmatic given the facts. Lots of people want to use
the fglrx driver
madmed: Certainly sound like the same thing.
I think the solution in comment #167 is probably the easiest way to fix
the problem though it's not the way I finally got it fixed.
Good luck with it!

[M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled
I can't beleive this was rejected for Karmic. If the driver is fglrx
then do not do the other bug fix code that causes the performance
problem! I installed the latest fglrx driver from ATI and applied the
patch. PERFECT, all desktop effects worked perfectly and the speed was
pretty good. But, of
I hope this issue has a good chance of being fixed in the next release
of Ubuntu, so I shall wait till beta versions are available for testing.

You received this bug notification because
Same problem still exists in the fglrx driver in that PPA.

Unfortunately I seem to already have the latest fglrx driver (2:8.600)
so I suppose I will just wait until there's a new version available and
hope it fixes the issue, I can live with the issue actually, still
prefer it to switching off compositing ;-)

[HD 3650] poor performance when using
I'm using Linux as my main operating system on my laptop for the first
time, though I've used Linux on and off in various ways since 1997. So I
was wondering how I can understand in greater detail the status of
certain defects. To me this defect is quite high. I am a software
engineer so I
Hi Robert,
thanks for responding. Since I'm new to using Linux(Ubuntu) as my main
desktop I don't understand the relationship between the various runtime
libraries especially with regards to free and non-free components. You
are saying that my configuration is basically not supported, since I'm
I agree this is a problem, especially with a laptop mousepad, I'm going
to try to find as a theme with thicker left, right and bottom edges in
the meantime :-(

Window Resize Difficult (Window Border Thickness)

You received this bug notification because
I'd like to raise this importance to high - tried the fix from ppa -
installed all packages tagged with this bug number, didn't seem to fix
it. Want to show off my system to Windows users but can't yet ;-)
